Maggggnnificent! We had a water bill that was triple the usual usage but thought we had over watered because we had installed an automatic watering system Then we had a pool of water in our garden that was bubbling, an obvious leak from under a concrete path which was under the garden bed. Time to panic, who to call, will they respond in quick time, or will I be given the usual tradie run around and phone demand for a ridiculous attendance fee (some have demanded $500 just to attend!) My neighbour highly recommended I give Cairns Leak Detection a call. Well…..
Call made, Darcy was excellent in calming me down and explaining probable costs and setting up an appointment as soon as they could. 6 hours later Darcy and Josh arrived, set to work tracing the actual location of the burst pipe , broke trough the cement path and fought off three squadrons of vicious midges and two battle groups of swamp mosquitos to dig out a trench and paddle in mud to expose two pipes that were ROOTED. Josh kept me informed the whole way, explained how the plumbing in our 22-year-old owner builder ( not so good) house worked and the possible causes of the burst copper pipe. No corrosion luckily, but a large tree root copulating with the two pipes ( ROOTED), bending the cold-water plastic one and splitting the hot water copper one. In quick time both rooted sections and the root were cut out, pipes renewed and the whole area cleaned up better than when the job started.
Darcy and Josh were terrific, polite, extremely professional, informative and guess what…. NOT Expensive. Thankyou team Cairns Leak Detection and Bravo Zulu ( Navy for well done) to you both.
PS. Not only did the rectification of leak save us more excess water usage, it lowered our power bill because our solar hot water system was leaking 300 litres every 5 hours causing the electric booster to always be heating.
